About Dr. Liu
Dr. Liu is highly trained in China and the U.S. in acupuncture and herbal medicine.
She began studying traditional Chinese medicine when she was 18 years old at China’s most prestigious medical school of traditional Chinese medicine, Chengdu University of Traditional Medicine. In 1984, she graduated with highest honors and acquired a strong foundation of medical knowledge. Her understanding of the holistic natural healing art has only deepened since then.
In 1992, she came to the U.S. and has studied extensively for 6 years, specializing in acupuncture in pain management. She earned her Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Pain Management at the Academy of Chinese Culture & Health Science in California. She continued her higher level of study by earning a doctoral degree at the University of East-West Medicine in Sunnyvale, CA, with a specialty in pain management and women’s health.
Dr. Liu is one of Monterey’s most experienced doctors of traditional Chinese medicine, especially for acupuncture & Herbal medicine. She has been improving the well-being of her patients for over 35 years. With a warm heart and an emphasis on natural healing, she uses her cumulative experiences to provide holistic treatments tailored to each patient’s unique needs. Dr. Liu begins her treatment by understanding the individual’s medical history and specific symptoms. She then synthesizes this information with Traditional Chinese Medicine’s differentiation diagnostic principals to find the root of the symptoms. Finally, Dr. Liu identifies and applies acupuncture to specific meridian points which are selected for treating both symptoms and roots for the patient’s best results.
Dr. Liu is passionate about sharing her rich knowledge and expertise with her patients, as well as with her students and associates in the medical field. She is always excited to answer any questions her patients have and to provide a new perspective on one’s health and wellbeing. Dr. Liu spent many years teaching at an acupuncture graduate school at University of East-West medicine. She also gives lectures at Monterey Physicians association regarding acupuncture for pain management to prevent opium crisis. Dr. Liu is constantly studying and improving herself, devoting much of her time to attending academic seminars in both the U.S. and China.
In addition to her love for natural healing medicine, Dr. Liu enjoys gardening, reading, listening to music, and practicing the piano. She is also fond of table tennis and participating in dance exercises with her friends.
